Welcome to ATC 2012!

It is with great pleasure that the American Society of Transplant Surgeons (ASTS) and the American Society of Transplantation (AST) invite you to attend the 2012 American Transplant Congress (ATC) -- the twelfth joint American transplant meeting.

The ATC is the foremost educational event in the field of basic and clinical transplantation. For the 2012 Congress, we return to Boston, Massachusetts to the John B. Hynes Convention Center. The center is conveniently located to a number of hotels that have easy access to the venue as well as restaurants with flavors from around the globe, the freedom trail, multiple art and science museums and a rich multicultural heritage.

We’d like to highlight some exciting changes to this year’s program. The Saturday pre-meeting symposia will continue to provide focused updates for those attendees who choose to come early to the meeting. However, with the increased science offerings Sunday – Wednesday mornings with the Sunrise Symposia, we have moved the Early Morning Workshops on Sunday and Tuesday to Luncheon Workshops, during time when there are no competing events. In addition, on Monday, we will hold some focused Early Morning Workshops on manuscript and grant writing. On Sunday – Tuesday mornings, there will remain a broad selection of single-focused concurrent symposia following the morning joint plenary sessions. On Tuesday, we are continuing with the “Controversies in Transplantation” but this year we are offering two concurrent controversies so you can “pick your battle.” The afternoons will continue with concurrent abstract sessions and posters. Additionally this year, we are repeating the Transplantation in Depth, with a clinical session on delayed graft injury on Sunday and a basic science session on the wild world of regulatory cells on Monday. Be sure to check the program for these special events.

We encourage you to join your friends and colleagues on Tuesday night, June 5 for the traditional “ATC night out.” This year the event will take place in the Kings Boston Lanes Lounge and Billiards, located across the street from the Sheraton Boston Hotel. There will be bowling, skee ball, dancing and refreshments. Come and be “bowled over” with your fellow ATC attendees.

The ever popular, “What’s Hot, What’s New” will be the feature presentation on Wednesday, the final day of the meeting.

The American Transplant Congress is the meeting to attend with the widest range of educational opportunities. The congress program and the city of Boston are sure to make a lasting impression on you. So please join us for a week of outstanding programs and for the opportunity to network with your colleagues and friends.
